Lucknow: Covid-19 death was reported in the city after a 200 day gap on Saturday with two patients who gave up on infection.
The victim was also the first in the third wave.
At least 2,769 more people, including 63 health workers, tested Covid-19 positive in the last 24 hours in Lucknow.
Cases are the highest in the third wave so far, taking the number of active cases to 14,596.
The third wave, which began on December 22, has infected 15,761 people so far.
About 1,165 patients, including 365 in the last 24 hours, have recovered.
The city has recorded victims of Covid-19 for the last time on June 29, 2021.
A woman from Lucknow and the others from Gonda, both with comorbidity, died because of Covid-19 each in RMLim and Kgmu respectively.
Women from Lucknow are 82 years old and suffer from chronic kidney disease.
He was first taken to a private hospital for dialysis but was tested Covid-19 positive after that he was referred to RMLIs.
“He gave up on kidney failure,” said Deputy Chief of Medical Officer, RMLIs, Dr.
Milind Vardhan.
The second victim was a 37-year-old woman from Gonda suffering from chronic liver disease.
He died on Friday night.
“The woman was in a critical condition when she was received 10 days ago.
He shifted to Covid Ward after he tested positive and over intensive care support,” said the doctor.
“Among new cases, 69 patients were hospitalized, while others recovered in house isolation,” said Yogesh Raghuwanshi, spokesman at the CMO office.
