Covishield session for 18-44 group after 8-day gap, but only first dose

Gurgaon: Government session sites in the city will carry out Covid-19 vaccinations for the 18-44 age group on Wednesday after a gap of eight days.
The health department said 120 slots each will be available at 37 session sites only for the first dose of Covishield.
People do not need to pre-book slots for vaccination, they can just walk into the centres.
The last Covishield and Covaxin sessions for the 18-44 age group were held on May 31.
Health officials said inoculations are resuming as Gurgaon will be getting 10,000 Covishield doses and 3,500 of Covaxin late on Tuesday night.
The health department has already sent a vaccine van to Kurukshetra to fetch the doses.
On May 31, a similar walk-in drive was conducted by the department for this category, in which recipients got their first dose of Covaxin at 37 sites.
For the 45-plus population, 38 session sites will be held in government facilities (33 will administer Covishield and four Covaxin) on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the health department has directed all private hospitals in Gurgaon to charge only Rs 780 for Covishield and Rs 1,200 for Covaxin, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that private facilities can charge a maximum of Rs 150 as service charge for Covid vaccines.
This will be also applicable to session sites in housing societies and workplaces.
Before this, private hospitals were allowed to charge Rs 100 per dose, but were effectively charging between Rs 250-300 per shot.
Private hospitals have also been directed to share their vaccine roster for the next two weeks, as well as their daily vaccine status.
“We have asked private hospitals to share their calendar of vaccinations for the next 15 days with us.
Also, daily consumption of each hospital should be transparent.
All hospitals have been told not to change over Rs 150 as service cost for a single dose,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
Hospitals conducting sessions outside Gurgaon have been asked to get approval from the respective district health department or to tie-up with a local hospital of that particular district.
“To avoid a crisis in case of any adverse effects following immunisation, we have directed private hospitals who are carrying out vaccination at various other districts to get approval from the district concerned,” he added.
On Tuesday, a total of 13,487 people in the 18-44 age group got vaccinated in Gurgaon at private session sites.
As many as 2,296 people aged 45 years and above, 95 healthcare workers and 223 frontline workers also got Covid jabs.
