“We are also aware that many citizens are waiting to get their second dose of covishield.
It will be a real challenge to vaccinate them all,” he said.
In July, nearly 10 lakh people in the district of the 45-plus group are expected to be eligible for the second dose of the covishield.
The beneficiaries were given their first shot in early April and according to the guidelines, they would need the second after 12 to 16 weeks.
Deshmukh said that the strategy to order Covaxin shares only for the second dose had been a little relaxed to allow some recipients to receive the first dose.

District officials who expect a batch saying they now hope it lands on Friday.
