Nagpur: Amitesh Kumar City Police Chief has adopted a strategy to get all accused of facing the arrest to be tested with a quick antigen test (mouse) before the person was detained.
This step was taken considering the threat of police infected by Covid-19 because of the number of cases of spiking in Nagpur, and the threat of omicron variants looked great.
Kumar has also ensured that one of the most expensive therapies to treat covids, monoclonal antibodies or cocktail drugs, are also available for city police personnel.
This therapy was also given to former US President Donald Trump too.
The top police have created a corpus fund from the allocation of welfare to be able to buy drugs, which cost around RS66,000 for one dose.
The drug, which is given to mild patients to suffer enough, has a high success rate at the city hospital where it has been used so far.
“All defendants will be tested for the first time for Covid before being detained formally.
If we find a positive person, the person will immediately shift to institutional quarantine,” he said.
“We ensure the immunity booster for all personnel on the war footing, including identifying them with co-morbidities for further prevention measures,” said CP, adding styles has been substantially covered by vaccination drives as well.
In the first wave, 1,830 police were tested positive while 28 had died.
In the second wave, 630 personnel have been tested positive with four deaths.
The head of the police hospital Dr.
Sandeep Shinde said 97% of the police had taken the first dose while 98% had taken the second.
“Five teams for testing have been installed in the five-zonal DCPS office in the city.
Apart from the fast antigen, RT-PCR will also be carried out in the police or the defendant experiencing symptoms.
All found positively will be quarantined,” Dr Shinde said.
He added vitamin C, D, zinc and other drugs supplied to the police station and other units.
Dr.
