CP involves the Testa Group, Legal Services to help rehabilitate victims in the Jamuna Ganga

Nagpur: Amitesh Kumar City Police Chief on Monday said he had involves transforming exploitation and saving through the Association (Testa) group, part of the District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), to help sex workers in the region Red-Light Ganga Jamuna, which has been established since August 11.
Kumar began the announcement through the public address system in Ganga Jamuna on Monday, offering assistance for rehabilitation and other complaints.
He said the Testa group held a meeting in the red light area where DLSA representatives, the Child and Child Development Department, and other government institutions were involved.
Testa Group, led by DLSA Secretary, is the body of 11 members with members of various government departments including police, women and children’s development, district child protection officers and others.
It advises and expands assistance, including law, to victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
This group also actively issued information about various government schemes, benefits and facilities for victims.
They also approach private companies, in the name of the victim, for the company’s social responsibility funds (CSR).
CP notifications below Section 7 (1) (b) Immoral Trade Act (Prevention) has banned prostitution in the Bordil Ganga Jamuna house, after the question of the livelihood of sex workers has increased massively.
Sex workers have expressed reluctance to embrace rehabilitation, and insist on being allowed to continue prostitution.
Part of civil society and opinion makers, including the Minister of Development of Women and Children Yashomati Thakur, has emphasized their rehabilitation with alternative options for livelihoods before denying their current income method.
Kumar also said the public address system would be used to deploy and create awareness about the purpose and objectives of the Testa Group.
“We will soon meet again to review group functions and further activities in Ganga Jamuna,” the top police said.
The Lakadanj Police Station, under the supervision of Zonal DCP Lohit Matani and Kumar, has started ‘Madat Kendra’ or a Help Center for sex workers to approach the police to ask for help.
“We have made an announcement at the Locality Jamuna Ganga that deal with sex workers, asking them to approach the police with a job request or rehabilitation.
The police will try to direct their request to the government department concerned,” Pote said.
