Nagpur: Amitesh Kumar City Police Chief on Wednesday issued a notification based on Section 7 (1) (b) Immoral Trade Act (Prevention), 1956, forbade prostitution in the Red-Light Ganga Jamuna area.
This is the second notification issued by him in connection with Ganga Jamuna.
In the latest notification, Kumar has quoted the presence of Chowki police, the MSEDCL office, almost half a dozen religious places and two schools in the area and stated them as a ‘public place’.
He stated that all kinds of prostitution business within 200 meters of these places were prohibited in accordance with the law.
Previously, Kumar had issued a notice based on part 144 criminal procedure code (CRPC) which prohibited the entry of outsiders in Ganga Jamuna to visit a brothel.
He also sealed two brothels and issued other seventh notice.
As per police record, 355 violations have been registered in various actions taken in Ganges Jamuna in 10 years.
More than 1,137 Pimps, prostitutes and customers have been captured so far, while 124 has been saved.
