Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvathira performances held as part of the CPM Regency Conference in the Capital City have triggered controversy for violating the Covid protocol.
More than 500 women took part in performance even though the government had limited the number of people who attended the meeting to 50.
Performance was held by the Parassala Committee of the Janathipatya Mahila Association Area (Indian Democratic Women’s Association Unit).
Members of the CPM Politbiro M A Baby, CPM District Secretary Anavoor Nagappan and other party leaders were present during the event.
The regional committee in the district has planned dance performance as part of the CPM District Conference scheduled to be held at Parassya from January 14.
In the Covid review met on Monday, the government has determined that only 50 people can gather in the meeting, but the command is unclear to political function.
However, even according to the Covid protocol set before, no more than 150 people can gather in public functions.
One day, Health Minister Veena George was also not ready to answer when he was asked about mass meetings that occurred at the CPM district conference.
Thiruvananthapuram reported 2,200 cases on Tuesday, with a test level of 22.4% test.
Hospitals in the district have seen a steady increase in covid-19 patient inflows.
