CPM Pioneer Mythily Sivaraman Expires in Chennai

CHENNAI: CPM leader and women’s rights activist Mythily Sivaraman, that had been instrumental in drawing national attention to this 1992 Vachathi mass rapes, expired of Covid-19 on Sunday.
She was 82.
Mythily has been the co-founder and past vice-president of the All India Democratic Women Association.
Mythily had held different positions from the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
After working for almost two decades as a research assistant at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, she returned to India in 1968.
Mythily had written extensively about the massacre of all dalit agricultural labourers at Kilvenmani at Thanjavur district.
It was by her writings which the Vachathi mass rapes at Dharmapuri district were recorded in detail, bringing nationwide attention to the episode.
She visited with the dinosaurs and interviewed a number of these rape survivors.
Mythily was included in several of labor rights problems.
“I combined CPM with her (Mythily) afterwards we had been a part of the Pupils Socialist Forum which was launched with the purpose of creating knowledge on global problems like the Vietnam War, and also just how significant was the connection between India and Cuba.
Chennai had witnessed campaigns on many international problems.
She had been instrumental in organising large campaigns.
She instills socialist journal’Radical Review’ to emphasize problems on global socio-political problems,” said retired Justice K Chandru.
Mythily had begun a monthly journal”Magalir Sinthanaikal”, the mouthpiece of all AIDWA.
She brought a legal aid questionnaire to assist girls like people affected by domestic violence,” he added.
When she had been influenced by memory loss in age 74, her daughter Kalpana, a professor of IIT – Madras and also writer-historian V Geetha compiled her functions over two years at a publication titled”Haunted by Fire: Essays on Caste, Class, Exploitation and Emancipation.
” Throughout her prime moment, she’d written articles in a number of journals on labor difficulties.
She’s survived by her husband Karunakaran and girl.
Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan along with many other governmental leaders condoled her departure.
