Jabalpur: Dam built to store rainwater cracks developed in Mandla District.
Officers shift locals, who live nearby, for safety.
This dam is located in Barwani Village under Ghughri Tehsil from the Mandla district.
“There is a water body in Barwani Village under Ghughri Tehsil, where there is a small water storage tank.
We have received the cracking information there.
Our team was there at night itself,” said Mandla District Collector Harshita Singh to Tii.
“I also visited the place in the morning.
There are two Panchayats who are under tanks, Barwani and Patan.
There are around 50 families allegedly affected if there is a violation.
This family has shifted elsewhere, their cows are also being shifted,” he said.
“The dam is full of full, water is transferred by making an alternative channel.
The officials of the Department of Water Resources have also started maintenance work,” he added.
“There are some leaks from the gap when we visit in the morning.
But some water is dried by building alternative channels.
Now the leak is mostly connected,” said Singh.
“According to the information provided by the WRD, the closing of the dam was conducted in 2019.
But after closing, it was checked for various levels in the next few years.
This year, it is up to full water storage.
The dam capacity is 2.38 million cubic meters .
A WCD team from state capital has also arrived here, “he added.
