Ghaziabad: Some of Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) near Rahul Vihar has developed cracks in several places.
India National Highways Authority Official (NHAI) said the damage to the toll road was caused by Jal Nigam’s work to put the ganga water pipeline in the area.
The official agreed that the damage was under natural and it would not hamper vehicle traffic.
However, NHAI has placed a barricade around the damaged part as a precaution.
“Jal Nigam has put a ganga water pipe between DASNA and Vihar Pratap water treatment plant for some time.
The pipe runs parallel to DME.
In Rahul Vihar, it is the impact of concrete vibrators that damage the expression portion,” said Arvind Kumar, the Deputy General Manager at Nhai.
“The damage is not serious.
But we remain comparable.
We will attend the problem after the pipe work in this area is complete.
Maybe it takes a few days,” he added.
19km long ganga water pipes must be shifted from DME alignment, which also delayed the construction of toll roads for some time.
Working in placing a pipe in a full swing because the district administration wants ganga water in the household for the next two months.
Not only in Rahul Vihar, but Nhai also expressed concern over damage to DME at the top gate, where farmers protested three agricultural laws had camped for almost a year.
In the Dasna part to Meerut from DME, NHAI has decided to set the net and build additional drain channels to prevent cave-in.
Stretching 32km has seen a number of cave-ins over the past few months, when it rains without stopping in Ghaziabad.
Nhai has received severe criticism, with the population questioning the quality of narrowing of the toll road portion that has been discarded only recently.
Officials said they planned a green topping on both sides of DME, where the net would be placed all the stretch to capture loose soil decline.
The number of drain shots will also increase so that rainwater does not accumulate.
“A number of caves, both large and small, are reported in many places in DME, especially on stretching between Dasna and Meerut.
We have waited for the rain down.
We have now conducted a survey and will immediately take adequate steps to prevent cave-in , “Kumar said.
“We plan to compress the land on both sides of DME and place the net.
Green toppings will be carried out between nets,” he added.
