Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) has started an escalator installation and an elevator at the Metro station on the priority corridor stretch between IIT and Motijhel.
A total of 27 escalators and 33 lifts must be installed on nine metro stations priority corridors.
UPMRC installed the first escalator at the level of the concert (first floor) from the IIT Metro station on Monday.
All escalators and lifts will be used under the ‘Make In India’ project and have been produced in Chennai.
Escalator is equipped with ‘crawling mode.’ It can run on two different speeds and will stop to save energy, if not used after the specified time.
Also to ensure passenger security, three ’emergency stop buttons’ has been provided to stop the escalator immediately.
Remote monitoring and control systems also exist to help monitor and control the operation of the escalator from the station control room.
