Gurgaon: The police claimed to have solved a large online cricket betting racket operating in the city with the arrest of 4 airports on Sunday.
Forty cellphones, five laptops, two Samsung tablets recovered from their ownership, police said.
According to police, four were involved in Australia’s online betting and the T20 South African Cricket match which took place on Saturday.
Acting on the tip-off of bets for the ongoing T20 cricket match from a house on DLF-1, the CIA team invaded the place and arrested four.
They have been identified as Satpal, Neeraj – residents of Aligarh – Pradeep, residents of Dilshad Garden and Lakshman, residents of Anand Vihar.
Explain modus operandi, the police said that there were four layers in the cricket bet, which included the main bookie, which was Lakshman in this matter, followed by sub-city, one bookie and a passenger.
The police claimed that the gang had run this online bet for the past 6-7 years.
The police are investigating if more people are involved.
