New Delhi: A few days ago, a businessman based in South Delhi received a call of extortion of RS 1 Crore which was allegedly from the Gangster Absconding Vikas Langarpuria.
However, when special cells arrested the suspect after shooting at the foot of Chhatarpur, it turned out he was from Langarpuria’s rival gang led by Kapil Sangwan, which was reported based in India.
DCP (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha said the suspect, Pawan alias David (21), was a resident of Mahendergarh, Haryana.
“He was nabbed after a brief fire exchange with a team led by Sunil Ramin and Ravinder Joshi inspector where he suffered a gunshot injury on his left leg,” he added.
Over the past few months, the police received information that Sangwan gang members had demanded protection money from employers and reached for land in the Delhi border area.
Entrepreneurs got a call of extortion on July 6 and FIR registered at the typical Hauz Police Station.
The cell gets a tip-off that criminals who make calls will come to Chhatarpur to perform receptions and fires at the entrepreneur’s house to scare him to pay money.
“The defendant and his colleague were seen riding a bicycle at Satbari Road.
The police marked them and asked them to give up.
However, Pawan tried to escape by shooting the team,” said Kushwaha.
The police shot back and Pawan fell.
The others were accused of, Manjeet Singh, did not reject the arrest and detained involved.
Pawan was taken to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment.
The pistol published was found in the two suspects.
The fir-fire attacked the police on duty and tried to kill registered against them.
The bike was confiscated.
During the interrogation, Pawan said he was working on Sangwan’s instructions, who had planned to use his rival’s name in extortion efforts to involve it and made him arrested.
However, the call details lead to the identification of the actual culprit.
Singh revealed that he joined the gang when he was fascinated by a striking Sangwan video and his colleagues posted on Facebook.
The cellphone used to make calls has been confiscated.
Pawan was found involved in various robbery cases.
