Patna: Gang of six armed criminals looted Rs 6.82 lakh in cash from the repressive branch of the Indian state bank (SBI) under the Saraya police station area in Muzaffarpur district on Thursday.
The criminals also opened fire in the air to terrorize locals who pelted stones at them.
The incident occurred at around 11:20 a.m.
when bank officials were busy dealing with customers.
Four young men armed with a country-made gun enter the bank, holding captive employees and collect cash from the counter and chest.
They attacked the cashier, Akhilesh Kumar Paswan, with Putt Revolver.
Akhilesh told the police that criminals beat two security guards – Upendra Kumar and Raju Paswan – and raise money from the cash counter.
They then forced the bank branch manager to hand over the chest key.
Robbers collect cash from the chest in a plastic bag and fired in the air at the bank to terrorize employees and customers.
Two criminals have weapons in their hands guarding the guards on the main road.
“When we throw stones in criminals, they open fire in the air.
They then fled with money looted on their motorcycle,” an eyewitness said.
Bank branch manager, Manish Anand, told the police that the robbers also took cash from several customers.
The security guards said they could not identify robbers when they were wearing masks and had covered their faces with clothes.
Saraya Sub-Division Police Officers Sharma said efforts to corrify the identity of robbers with CCTV recording assistance.
He added three empty cartridges recovering from the place.
Videos that show robbers in the action then become viral on social media.
When getting information, Muzaffarpur SSP Jayant Kant reached the place and asked SDPO and Sho to solve the earliest case.
