Hyderabad: Cyber fraudster who sucks 12 crore from AP Mahesh Co-operative Urban Bank has used a sophisticated hacking tool and even compromised the security of mobile three account holders, believes in the investigator.
Of the three account holders, the police managed to put their hands on one customer, Vinod Kumar, who claimed he was unaware of fraudsters using his bank account as Launchpad to transfer funds simplified into several bank accounts throughout the country.
The researchers now believe that fraudsters who gain access to the bank server are strategically on days that do not work, somehow managed to get access to three customer accounts.
“In the case of the Hacking of the State Cooperative, Telangana Limited (TSCAB), Nigerian fraudsters lure three account holders to provide details of their bank account access to transfer money through the IMP channel (immediate payment service) by offering commissions.
In this case so far, customer collusion has not been Appears and if so, we suspect that fraudsters may have managed to compromise customers customers and get access to their online banking accounts, “said a police officer.
In the case of TSCAB, the fraudsters executed the money transfer scheme in the days that did not work and managed to attract most of the money before bank officials realized about fraud.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad CP CV Anand said that it was the responsibility of the bank to provide adequate cyber security and if there was a violation that was considered in that matter, the right legal action would be taken against them concerned.
Speaking of fraud, Anand said that there were some progress in the investigation.
“Of the stolen, we have managed to freeze around 3 crores in various banks.
We verify whether hackers come from Delhi or other places abroad.
We have observed negligence from the bank too.
When they provide online banking services, they also have to provide security adequate cyber.
We will call a meeting with the banker and tell them about this in writing.
They do business with public money and are their responsibility to protect public money by providing adequate cyber security.
Otherwise, we must take legal action against them too, “Police Commissioner said.
