LONDON: Cristiano Ronaldo is set to receive a welcome Heroes at Old Trafford on Saturday when he made his second debut for Manchester United against Newcastle to return to the Premier League.
Five times Ballon d’Or Winner, who left United to join Real Madrid in 2009, returned to the club in the transfer of surprises from Juventus just before the transfer deadline.
United Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said ahead 36 years will display “at a certain point” on the 1400 GMT kickoff.
Since joining United Ronaldo broke the record of scoring international goals throughout the time with the 110th goal for Portugal in the World Cup qualifying victory against the Republic of Ireland.
After being suspended for the next match against Azerbaijan because he took off his clothes in the celebration, he fought into England and had been practicing with his new teammate for the past few days.
It still has to be seen whether Ronaldo will start the match or leave the bench.
“He has experienced a good pre-season with Juventus, he played for the national team, he had a good week with us here,” Solskjaer said.
“He will definitely be on the field at some point, it’s certain.” Ronaldo won three Premier League titles and the Champions League for six years laden with United, before going to shine real and Juventus.
It seems that United will lose a reunion with their former star when Manchester City moved to sign it.
But Ronaldo said his relationship with the former United manager Alex Ferguson played a key role in convincing him to return to Old Trafford, called the steps “dream come true”.
Solskjaer, who played with Ronaldo during his first spell at the club, said: “Of course we followed his career from afar since he went here and I thought everyone was very happy to have it back.” He can speak for himself but he can speak for himself it seems he is happy to come back too.
“The mood is very good, he works well and we look forward to Saturday, of course.” Before the unexpected acquisition of Ronaldo, Solskjaer had strengthened his troops with Swoops for England in front of England Sancho Jadon and defender of the French Cup Cup winner Raphael Varane.
United will be expected to challenge Manchester City champions for the title after a productive transfer window.
Solskjaer believes Ronaldo will increase a higher level of quality in the squad, both physically and mentally, when they try to land the first trophy of the Norwegian government.
“We have grown as a group of recent years.
Determination, desire, focus has increased over time and little by little,” he said.
“Even like bringing Raphael (Varane), he comes with a winning mentality, extraordinary focus.” Of course Cristiano comes too and there is no place to hide when you have a winner like them.
You cannot attend training and provide 95 percent or not focused.
