Hubballi: Crocodile entered Kogilaban Village on the outskirts of Dandeli in Uttara Kannada District on Thursday.
Reptile roamed around the road for half an hour, sending residents rushing to lock the gate and door while the local stray escaped.
Forest officers arrived immediately after and took reptiles, believed to be around 6 years, returned to the river times.
“The creature does not endanger anyone as long as it is in the midst of human settlements,” the official said.
The villagers are looking for a fence around the river to prevent crocodiles, many at times, starting to venture to residential areas in and around the city of industry.
