Mumbai: Sixteen months after continuing the probe of the case of Koregaon-Bhima’s violence, the Cordaon-Bhima request commission has summoned the Lakhmi Gautam IPS officer and an activist Kabir Kala Manchal Potdar for a cross examination, is scheduled to begin 23 to 25 August, at the Mumbai office.
The Commission has begun the examination of witnesses from state administration and political personality, which will be an important part of the investigation.
The cross-examination of Gautam IPS officers was partially finished.
It should be noted that Harshali Potdar, who accused the Milind Ekbote and Sambhaji Bhide from Coregaon Bhima’s violence on January 1, 2018, in a written statement, cannot appear for cross-examination before the request commission, even after being called three times.
Last year, the Commission sent a summons through the police police at the Govandi residence which ordered him to stay present on February 25, 2020.
He, however, quoted health reasons not to appear.
“This will be the first hearing by the Commission after March 2020 in Mumbai,” Secretary of the Palnitkar VV Commission to Ti.
In the next few months, the Commission can summon several other political party leaders related to the case and the number of witnesses to be examined including the Head of the NCP Sharad Pawar and former Minister of Devendra Fadnivis.
The Commission has summoned the head of NCP Sharad Pawar on April 4, 2020, however, was postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic.
JN Patel, Head of Commission of two members said that among the heads of other political parties, the Head of NCP was the only head of political parties who had responded to the commission.
The event to mark the 200-year anniversary of the Battle of Koregaon-Bhima in Pune, where the East Indian company forces defeated Peshwa forces, damaged by violent incidents on January 1, 2018.
During violence, one person from the Maratha Community was killed.
