Chennai: Panic Griped Of Kancheepuram residents on Friday after they saw a 53-year-old man was swept away on the river market after holding on to spiked bushes in his bank for a while.
The river has excessive water after the Kavipakkam reservoir in Vellore is opened because of the rain that is unrelenting.
On Friday morning, Karunakanan, a city pump operator from Chinnaiyan Kunam in the Kancheepuram district, was walking towards the motorbike room along the river market.
Motorbike space is near the road around one kilometer from the market bridge.

“We have warned people not to go near waterways, but they are still slightly careless, because we cannot predict the flow of water,” he said.
