Silchar: The Special Team of the CRPF command from Kashmir will be deployed along the Border of Inter-Country Assam-Mizoram in Cachar, said sources in the district police.
The decision to spread a special team came after the murder of the police six Assam in Lilapur near the border on Monday.
A Cachar District Administrative Officer on Friday said CRPF IG Sarabjit Singh visited Lilapur on Thursday and took a stock of the situation.
He held a meeting with police officials Assam and Mizoram and communicated the center direction to them, said a source.
So far, 13 companies from CRPF Jawan – seven of 147 battalions, two of 119 battalions and each of the battalions 156, 10, 109 and 28 – have been assigned to serve on the side of Assam along the border.
Similarly, three companies – one of 140 battalions and two of 225 battalions – have been assigned to the deployment on the side of Mizoram.
Mizoram and Assam shared a 164.6 km border.
Some rounds of dialogue involving the center have been held since 1995 to resolve disputes, but have blazed at any time.
Meanwhile, Police Assam on Friday stopped the Asom Jatiya Parishad team led by President Lurinjyoti Gogoi from visiting the border.
