Nagpur: Train Safety Commissioner (CRS), Mumbai, has agreed to increase the maximum speed limit on the ONCIsi-Nagpur-Ballarshah route 509km to 130kmph.
This is the last part of Delhi-Chennai’s gold diagonal waiting for speed upgrades.
Approval by CRS Manoj Arora was given to the General Train General Manager, Mumbai, on January 12.
Although approval has been given, the central train must comply with several referrals before it can officially increase the speed on the route.
“Green signals to increase speed is based on the Communication of the General Manager’s Office on June 25, 2021.
At present, the mail / express train runs at 110kmph while Rajdhani and Duronto ran at 120kmph.
Compliance the conditions submitted by CRS are accelerated,” Shivaji Sutar said, “Shivaji Sutar said Head of Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Central Railway.
CRS has requested a technical section to maintain the track according to the standard needed.
With an upgrade, more LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) Rake train will be able to operate at 130kmph.
This train can benefit from minimum time savings of 30-40 minutes between Esparsi and Ballarshah.
Upgrades will also make the whole route Delhi-Chennai suitable for 130kmph operations.
The Chennai-Ballarshah and Antarsi-Delhi section was certified for 130kmph operations a few months ago.
Central Railway stretches on the Mumbai-Howrah route between Kalyan and Sevagram, and on the route Mumbai-Chennai between Kalyan and Wadi is lagging behind in increasing the maximum speed of up to 130kmph.
The South East Central Railway (SECR) and South Eastern Railway (SER) have increased their stretch on the Mumbai-Howrah route in the financial year 2020-21.
The Indian train has planned to increase the speed on all golden-quadrilateral gold and golden diagonal up to 130kmph in 2020-21 and 160kmph in 2024.
However, the two deadlines will be missed.
