Bhubaneswar: Debigarh wildlife asylum is ready to introduce a cruise from August the first week at the Hirakud reservoir located close to the sanctuary, to attract more tourists.
This will be run at the location of the eco-tourism involving members of the local community.
Forest officials say cruise ships will be part of the package that will include observations of birds and wildlife views.
Debigarh, which is known for a better sighting, records wild animals down from the forest to the reservoir to drink water.
Tourists can see a glimpse of animals while sailing.
Division Forest Officer (Hirakud Division) Anshu Pragyan Das said one hour will be given to an eight-tourist batch for one cruise ship through the reservoir.
“We are training members of the local community to become part of the Cruise program.
The eco-tourism site is managed by the community as they do, which reap the benefits and help save forests.
Shipping will be a guided program,” he said.
Other interesting projects that have been planned to attract tourists are Odyssey Island.
“Hirakud’s reservoir has three islands in it with each of them own its own uniqueness.
Sanctuary authorities for the first time want to knock the potential of three pulau-islands, sunset islands, and livestock islands”.
Forest officers say to visit the islands there will be special shipping because one cruise will last for four hours.
Environmentally friendly tourists will be able to see bats from a distance without disturbing them.
They will be accompanied by a trained environmentally friendly guide.
On the island of Sunset, tourists can see the sunset in the west and see the moon published in the east at the same time, the forest officer added.
Stretching inside the sanctuary often see animal sightings in the core area that spread almost 200 square kilometers.
