‘Crying, praying & hiding’: Afghan flights for safety from troubled land

Lucknow: The sun shone brightly even at 8 in the morning on Monday morning and the sound of his shot was hard and clear.
Like Abdul Ghafoor, 34, standing in front of a giant US military aircraft, was heavily guarded by US Marines, at the military base at Kabul airport, the scenery was no different from the apocalyptic film.
For this young man, who has helped people return to Afghanistan from other countries since 2014, living under the Taliban regime is not safe.
Fortunately, with a German network to fall back, Abdul was evacuated from Kabul on Monday night and was transported to Tashkent in Uzbekistan.
After hours of hiding, crying and praying on Tuesday, Abdul finally flew to Germany for a safer future.
However, he must now live with the fact that he will never be able to return to Afghanistan.
“Before Sunday, we all in Kabul are busy with our regular work.
The Taliban has reached an agreement that they will not enter Kabul but then they begin to enter the capital and exit the hours in a few hours.
Immediately, there is chaos and confusion.
People started Run for kilometers, do not know where they go and what they will do, “Abdul told Toi from Tashkent airport on Tuesday.
Abdul is the founder and director of Afghan migrant suggestions and support and has helped more than 3,000 people who returned to Afghanistan since 2014.
He began this work after he was not given asylum by Norway which led to his deportation in 2013.
“The first thing I did was burn All sensitive documents and identity cards that I have in my office.
I went hiding immediately.
Even though my activist, colleagues, and my friends in Germany sent me an email that informed about the possibility of evacuation on the Sunday itself, I couldn’t bring it The day was afraid of the entry of the Taliban to the city, “he said.
Can’t reach his home to end up from Afghanistan forever, it was only on Tuesday morning that Abdul took his laptop and a small backpack of items to leave the city.
“I have no treasure.
I can’t even withdraw money from my bank account.
Security is a priority,” he said.
Overwhelmed by the amount of destruction in his country, Abdul said he had broken up several times since Sunday.
“When I arrived at Tarmac Military on Tuesday morning, there were thousands of people who tried to escape.
Two men of Talibani, in a futile attempt to disperse the crowd, opening fire in the air caused further chaos.
Because it was close to the US basis, US Marines retaliated And opened fire on two Talibans in front of my eyes, “he said.
Abdul finally got a seat on a military plane about 1 morning on Wednesday.
“We waited for all the hours by knowing any good danger on the other side of the airport.
I can’t go back because the Taliban began to force into the homes of activists, journalists, and likes to find documents and identity to the target.
I remain a target for the Taliban because I have helped people who have returned to repent with other religions, infidels and atheists, jobs that are totally unacceptable and dangerous under them, “Abdul added.
“It was truly extraordinary when I stood in front of the US plane, pray every second for the safe evacuation of the problematic land.
Many of my friends are still trapped there and seek help.
I do everything to guide them.
Who knows whenever This will end, “he said.
