Cryptocurrency, social media must empower democracy: SM

New Delhi: Underwalking the significance of cooperation among democracy, PM Narendra Modi offers to share India’s expertise in holding free and fair elections, and in increasing transparency in all fields of government through innovative digital solutions.
Delivering the “National Statement” of India in the US Summit for Democracy on Friday, Modi called for joint efforts to form global norms for emerging technologies such as social media and Crypto currency, so “they are accustomed to empowering democracy, not to damage it”.
He also remembers the Indian tradition about participatory decision making and said it gives an example that democracy can, and will provide.
Modi on Thursday called for a technology company to contribute to efforts to preserve open and democratic communities.
PM said he was proud to represent the world’s largest democracy in the Summit and that the Democratic Spirit was an integral part of the ethos of Indian civilization.
This spirit, he said, leads to an unparalleled story in the Democratic Nation building for the past 75 years.
Talking about what he describes as an Indian story about an unprecedented socio-economic inclusion in all fields, including constant improvement in health, education, and human welfare on an unimaginable scale, Modi said India has a clear message to the world : “Democracy can provide, that democracy has delivered, and that democracy will continue to provide.” With implications, and through comments from various leaders, the Summit is clearly intended, among others, to present counter-soise to China who face diplomatic boycott from the game Winter from us and several other Western countries.
“Structural features such as multi-party polls, independent justice, and free media are important instruments of democracy.
However, the basic strength of democracy is the spirit and ethos located in its citizens and our society.
Democracy is not only from people, by the people , for the people but also with people, in people, “Modi said.
PM said various parts of the world had followed different democratic development lines and there were many who had to learn with each other.
“We all need to improve our practice and democratic system.
We need to increase inclusion, transparency, human dignity and redressive responsiveness,” Modi said.
