CTET to test conceptual understanding

Chennai: The Central Secondary Education Council (CBSE) is set to make the eligibility test of the Central Teacher (CTET) harder to assess conceptual understanding and critical thinking of teachers.
In the release, the board said, “paper questions will be developed to assess less factual knowledge and more conceptual understanding, applications, problem solving, critical reasons and thinking.” “The focus will assess the understanding of candidates about teaching subjects, pedagogical content knowledge, the relevance of the knowledge of the subject in the school curriculum, and other dimensions including learning learning experience, strategies to develop clarity of teaching, the use of AIDS teaching learning and special methodology tests for concepts,” said CBSE.
Changes will be in the CTET syllabus and question paper structure.
CBSE said the assessment framework will be released, adding the next CTET will be held online on December 2021 / January 2022 to motivate future teachers to literate computers.
P Subramanian, Principal of Bhavan Rajaji Vidhyashram at Kilpauk, welcomed moving to do CTET online.
“There will be initial difficulties for prospective teachers.
However, they must have exposure to technology before joining the school.
In accordance with national education policy (NEP), all designated teachers in the future may have to clean the feasibility test and certificate will have a lifetime of validity.
So , Increasing test standards is a good step, “he said.
“If the proposed change is inserted, then cleaning the feasibility test will not be easy.
The teacher is also needed to prepare for NEP post-implementation of the academic environment,” said C Sathish, Director General, School ABS.
“If we make a teaching profession that is interesting for children -The child, surely they will also raise the bar, “said C Bharathi Lakshmi, head of the Hindustan International School.
