New York: A woman who said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo groped her breasts had filed a criminal complaint against politicians, said US law enforcement on Friday, increasing the chances of it may be charged.
The woman, unnamed but who worked as aide to Cuomo, said the governor of three terms attacked him at his executive house last year.
The accusation formed a part of the explosive report released this week which said Cuomo harassed 11 former state employees and now.
Veteran Democrats, 63, have repeatedly denied ever touching a woman inappropriately.
“Criminal complaints were submitted yesterday,” an official at the Sheriff Office of Albany Regency told AFP.
US media said the complaint was made by a woman called “executive assistant # 1” in the report published by the Attorney General New York General Lingitia James on Tuesday.
Independent investigation, which is civilized, said Cuomo has 11 former civil servants who are sexually harassed.
“Executive Assistant # 1” told the investigation that Cuomo raised the blouse in his office in November 2020.
Lawyer Cuomo returned to James’s investigation at a press conference on Friday.
They complained that they had not received prior notice that the report would be released and said the researchers did not have a transcript of testimony with them.
“This is unilaterally and he is ambushed,” said the lawyer Cuomo, Rita Glavin.
Lawyers also showed email reporter transcripts that were said to be sent by Executive Assistant # 1 that Glavin said releasing his testimony.
Press Secretary James Fabien Levy responded to “attacks” on “independence and credibility” inquiry in a statement on Friday, said, “There are suggestions that seek to overcome the credibility of this woman or this investigation is very unfortunate.” Levy underlined that Cuomo had asked James to oversee independent investigations in the light of charges, adding that the deleted interview transcript would be available for the State Assembly.
“There are 11 women whose accounts are strengthened by the mountains of proof,” he said.
At least five district lawyers have never opened questions into Cuomo’s behavior.
Legal experts have suggested that Cuomo can face accusations of touching mild violations.
James’s report also accused him of leading to toxic workplace for women and took retaliation against at least one accurate.
Cuomo has rejected the call from President Joe Biden and another leading Democrats to stop and members of the state parliament moving to work.
He has been given a August 13 deadline to submit evidence in his defense for their impeachment investigation.
Cuomo was originally praised because of the handling of the Coronavirus crisis before he was filled with accusations that he covered the scale of death in a nursing home.
He is believed to have long won the fourth term because the governor in the election is scheduled for next November, but a poll released on Friday suggested that he might have difficulty winning.
The Quinnipiac University survey found that 70 percent of New York voters questioned thinking he had to resign, while 55 percent thought he had to be charged with a crime.
