A number of pupils aspiring to fly abroad for higher research are not able to receive their visa appointments in time.
Lockdown constraints from town have driven consular offices to stay closed or run with limited personnel, thus slowing the visa issuance procedure.
Pupils, particularly those aspiring to fly into the US, are worried that they won’t make it for their universities punctually.
A number of these pupils had deferred their admissions with annually.
A parent in south Mumbai reported that the US student visas (F1) collapse below the crisis visa group.
Students may reserve the very first date available due to their own visa and use the emergency appointment to proceed the slot.
“However, most pupils are not able to find the initial appointment date,” stated the parent.
Nick Novak, spokesperson of the US Consulate General Mumbai, stated they are providing restricted visa services because of Covid-19.
“But, student unions are a top priority…,” he explained.
