New Delhi: Road Transportation Union and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday rejected accusations of opposition that customs cutting on fuel has to do with the results of the Bypoll recently, even when he emits confidence that environmental savings will drive more people to turn to Electric vehicles and other alternative fuels in the next two years.
Speaking at the moment summit, said Gadkari, “Customs reduction has brought assistance immediately and this is needed.
Connecting this to the wrong election.
We do this after the results of Bypoll and not before the poll.
We have one election or another every month.
If we Link all government decisions to elections, then we cannot do anything.
“Gadkari said the government took many initiatives to reduce crude oil imports, which amounted to almost Rs 8 lakh crore every year.
He said initiatives such as higher ethanol mixtures in gasoline, the introduction of flexible machines, green hydrogens, BIO-CNG and electric vehicle penetration would substantially reduce the consumption of Indian crude in the near future and also reduced air pollution.
“If your fuel bill decreases from Rs 12,000-rs 15,000 per month to Rs 2,000 per month to shift to an electric vehicle, do not you do it?” He asked.
Gadkari also said that vehicle fuel scenarios will change in the next three years and say after 2-3 years, there will be “new Indian and pollution-free countries”.
At the speed of road construction, he said road infrastructure in India would be equivalent to European and American countries in the next two-three years because several highway projects were being built in this country.
The minister said the government had begun working on the construction of 23 Greenfield Expressways, including the Mumbai-Delhi toll road.
He said the Mumbai-Delhi-Delhi highway which was 1,350 km long will be the longest highway in the world and will reduce travel time between two cities to 13 hours.
