Jaipur: The State Human Rights Commission directed the Government of Gujarat to pay the compensation of Rs 10 Lakh to Kin from Rajasthani who died in police custody in neighboring countries.
Chairman of the Justice Commission Gopal Krishna Vyas issued orders to the petition by the sister of the deceased Ramlal Jatav.
Jatav, a resident under the Area of the Sikri Police Station in Bharatpur, was detained by Gujarat police from Dudu in Jaipur on August 30, 2015 on FIR registered at the Kalel Sahar Police Station in Gandhinagar.
After carrying Ramlal to detention, the police team checked into a hotel near Dudu, but did not tell the local police.
Ramlal was put in a room along with two police officers with one police officer standing outside on the night of arrest.
When the police guard outside opened the door around 3am to check the defendant, Ramlal was found hanging from the ceiling of the hotel room.
The Gujarat police investigation found negligence on the police team and imposed the cost of RS 34,000 at the chauly protective service officer.
But there is no compensation given to his family.
