Cut fuel prices as promised: O Panneerselvam

CHENNAI: AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam on Saturday demanded that the state government reduce the price of petrol by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Rs 4 per litre in accordance with the election manifesto of the ruling DMK.
In a statement, Panneerselvam said chief minister M K Stalin and the Centre should make efforts to cut the excise duties and bring the petroleum products under the GST.
Since the DMK assumed charge on May 7, petrol price has gone up from Rs 93.17/litre to Rs 97.43/litre, diesel price has increased from Rs 86.65/litre to Rs 91.64 a litre, he said.
In another statement, OPS urged Stalin to roll back the decision to open Tasmac liquor outlets in 27 districts on June 14.
Saying human life was more than government’s revenue, OPS recalled the black flag protest by the DMK in May last year when the previous AIADMK government announced opening of liquor shops in Chennai police limits.
