Cyber Con: Nurse at Ahmedabad lost RS 1.2 lakh

Ahmedabad: Looking for the customer care number of the bank online leading the nurse for the cyber fraudsters who donated from Rs 1.28 lakh.
Shiba Yadav, a resident of the 35-year-old Thaltej, filed a complaint in this case with the Vastrapur police.
He has an account with an Indian state bank and wants a six-month statement.
So, he went to the bank where he was told that the statement would be available only after May 15 due to covid restrictions.
In his complaint, he said that on May 5, he called the bank customer service number he was looking for online.
During the conversation, the person posing as customer service executives pretended could not hear it and promised to call back.
He then received the text of the personal cellphone number that asked him to download the screen sharing application.
The person asked if he used e-wallet.
He told the person that he wanted his statement.
He assured him to make RS transactions 49.213.
He did as he asked but realized that the money was deducted from his bank account.
When he asked the man why the money was deducted, he told him that the money had been detained and would be credited to his account again.
At that time, a number of RS 1,28,623 was withdrawn from the account.
When Shiba asked the man to return the money, another person who identified himself as a senior customer service manager asked him for an HDFC account to deposit money back.
When he refused to do it, the man said that the money would be returned in 24 hours.
He hung up and immediately called the police.
After they looked into this case, a complaint was submitted on Friday.
The police have repeatedly advised people to oppose fake customer service numbers posted online.
“If you want to contact the company or service, go to their website and look for numbers instead of googling for it,” cyber experts said.
