Nashik: Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to extend the cycle pathway on Trimbak Road to Sharanpur Junction with a total investment of Rs 9 Crore.
In the first phase, the 1.1 km cycle line has been developed between the Trimbak Naka and Veer Savarkar swimming pool.
NMC has been in the process of appointing an agent to develop cycle lines and work for those who are expected to begin in several months.
NMC officials said the proposed cycle track was part of 1.8 km of barrier free road between Trimbak Naka and Sharanpur Junction.
“We have asked for an offer to build a second phase of a barrier freeway, including the cycle track project.
The tender process must be completed in the first half of December.
The work order to be provided in December-end.
We expect work will begin from January next year,” said a person NMC officials.
Financial provisions have been made in the budget for the current financial year.
The stretch is known as the grumps of traffic and the proposed project will help residents run safely on the path and the cycle rises.
Nikhil Panchal, Vice President, Ambad Industries & Manufacturer Association (AIMA), said that Trimbak Road is connected to the Satpur Industrial Area and thousands of workers use the road.
“This is a positive development.
We want the cycle lane to be extended to the Satpur Industrial Estate so that workers can cycle to work,” Panchal said.
