Cyclone Batsirai Death Toll Rises to 20 in Madagascar

AntanTanarivo [Madagascar]: A total of 20 deaths were recorded on Monday in Madagascar by the Risk Offices and Disaster Management, after the passing of intense tropical cyclones on Saturday and Sunday.
Multi-sectoral air valuation for damage left by Cyclone Batsirai started Monday in Madagascar.
According to the latest estimates, more than 69,000 people have been transferred after the country’s sweeping cyclone.
Intense Tropical Cyclone Batsirai makes the mainland Saturday night in Madagascar, with the right location monitored at 14 km north of Mansjary, 535 km southeast of the capital Antananarivo.
Batsirai crossed the country from east to west before going to sea week on the Mozambic channel.
An estimated 150,000 people can be moved by further landslides and rising rivers and canals.
“Bad floods and weather not only destroy homes and broken property, but above all have destroyed the livelihoods and sources of affected family income,” Pasqualina said in Sirio, representative of the World Food Program (WFP) in Madagascar.
“The affected family, currently in total poverty state, will see their living conditions worsens with the absence of urgent assistance until their situation returns to normal.”
