KEONJHAR: A 50-year-old man died after a branch of a tree fell on him at Panchupali village under Anandpur block of Keonjhar district around 7am on Wednesday amid Cyclone Yaas triggered heavy winds. Though the intensity of the storm was less than predicted earlier, heavy rain accompanied by strong wind damaged houses and uprooted trees in many parts of Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Bhubaneswar and Puri were largely spared by the cyclone with no significant impact on life and property. NDRF and Odisha police personnel continued restoration works even before the storm was over by cutting fallen branches of trees to ensure road connectivity.
