New Delhi: PM Andrej Babis’ Centrist Party on Saturday with a narrow loss of parliamentary elections of the Czech Republic, the development of a surprise that could mean the end of the populist billionaire government in power.
The two-day selection to fill 200 seats under the center of the Czech Republic parliament took place shortly after the International Consortium journalist investigating reported the details of Babis’s foreign financial transactions in a project nicknamed Pandora paper.
Babis, 67, has denied a mistake.
With almost all the sounds counted, the Czech Statistics Office said together, the three-party coalition of conservative liberal, capturing 27.8% of the vote, beating the Babis’ Ano (yes), who won 27.1%.
Together has promised to form a new government with allies.
“The results are clear, democratic opposition won a clear majority,” Petr Fiera said, together with leaders and candidates for PM.
