Czechs approve assistance for Afghanistan translators, family

Prague: The Czech government on Friday approved aid program for Afghanistan who worked with Czech forces during their spread in the NATO mission.
Defense Minister Lubomir Metnar said the assistance meant Afghan and family translators including their relocation, asylum offers, and financial assistance.
Metnar said the purpose of this program was to ensure a safe and feasible living conditions for them after NATO forces withdraw from Afghanistan.
Government steps come a few days after Czech veterans, members of the current service, human rights organizations and others urge the government to help reciminate Afghanistan because of the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan.
NATO troops ended the spread launched against Al-Qaeda and Taliban forces after the September 11 attacks.
President Milos Zeman asked the government on Thursday to approve the program without delay due to fears that Afghanistan who worked with the Czech military could be killed by the Taliban.
The Ministry of Defense refuses to provide further details about this program, which is classified to protect the recipient.
Their number is not given.
The last Czech service member was pulled out of Afghanistan in June.
Since 2002, a total of 11,500 Czech soldiers were deployed in Afghanistan.
Fourteen Czechs were killed.
