DA for central government workers climbing 28% from 17%

New Delhi: The center on Wednesday approved an increase in unfortunate allowances (DA) and existence assistance (DR) provided to the Central Government employees and retirees from 17 percent to 28 percent.
The increase will take effect from July 1, 2021 and will directly benefit around 48.34 lakh Central Government employees and 65.26 lakh retirees, said Information Minister and Broadcasting Thakur.
Given the Covid-19 pandemic, the center has freezed three additional installments and Dr.
Maturity starting January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021.
Increased DA and Dr.
Will impose an additional annual load of RS 34,401 Crore on FECECUER, said Thakur , “The government has decided to increase DA to employees of the central government and DR retirees with the effect of July 1, 2021 which represents an increase of 11 percent over the level of 17 percent of the basic / pension payment stated.” The Cabinet agreed to recover three dear allowance installments and departure assistance with effects from 01.07.2021 which represents an increase of 11 percent over the level of 17 percent of the basic / pension payment.
There were no arrears for a period of 01.01.2020 to 30.06.2021 to be paid, “the official handle of PIB tweeted.
The increase in DA from July 1 will only be effective since that day, which implies that employees will not get arrears on non-revision DA for the previous period .
