New Delhi: Dabur India Limited on Tuesday pulled ads and submitted an apology to show lesbian couples celebrating the Hindu Festival Karwa Chauth.
It came a day after Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Narottam Mishra expressed his strong objections to the Karwachauth Fem campaign and said that legal action would be taken if the ad was not taken back by makers of consumer goods.
“The Karwachauth FEM campaign has been withdrawn from all social media handles and we unconditionally apologized for accidentally painful people’s sentiments,” the company posted on Twitter.
Mishra has directed the National Police Chief to convey to Dabur India to attract advertising beauty products “unpleasant” which shows the same sex partner celebrating Chaut Karva and watching each other through a filter.
At Karva Chauth, married women, especially in North India, observed quickly from sunrise to Moonrise for their husband’s safety and longevity.
Karva Chauts is observed on Sunday.
“I consider this a serious problem.
More because it’s advertising and cliping like it is made on the Hindu festival ritual.
They (advertising) show lesbians celebrate Karva Chauth and see each other through a filter.
In the future, they will show two people who take ‘ Feras’ (married to each other according to the Hindu ritual).
It’s not fun, “Mishra told reporters.
The interior minister said he had directed DGP (Director General of Police) to ask the company to attract this ad.
“And if it fails to do it, take legal steps after checking the ad,” he added.
