Mumbai: Maharashtra added below 4,000 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, the lowest in almost 190 days, while Mumbai reported a decline in daily detection too.
In the state, 3,643 fresh cases and 105 deaths were reported, taking the total case of 64.28 lakh and death to 1,36,067.
Tally Monday for the lowest state since February 15 (3,365).
The number of cases in Mumbai on Monday was low in six days at 225, taking a total tally to 7.41 lakh so far.
The four deaths were registered in the city on Monday, took the whole victim to 15,951.
The number of daily tests conducted dropped dramatically because of the weekend, with a country that tested 1.53 lakh on Sunday due to an average of 1.8-2 lash tests carried out on weekdays, while Mumbai only recorded 24,828 tests with an average 35,000.
Last week, BMC increased the number of tests on several days to almost 55,000, but the number of positive cases rose only a little.
“Covid’s controlled situation, but we held a meeting on Tuesday to review the preparation for the third wave,” said a senior BMC official.
Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that based on a letter received from Niti Aayog in June about the potential of the third wave, the state had started his preparation for it.
“We have taken the third wave prediction seriously.
We have increased the infrastructure of beds, medical equipment, and even oxygen production.
No need to panic, we must continue to follow the Covid protocol and vaccinate large amounts,” Tope said.
He also signaled the reopening of the temples where the crowd control was a problem that would not happen soon.
