LUCKNOW: As many as 709 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the past 24 hours in Uttar Pradesh.
The daily case tally was the lowest in the past 11 weeks.
Meanwhile, the recovery rate climbed to 98% with 1,706 people beating the coronavirus.
“The Covid-19 situation is almost under control now.
Covid curfew has been lifted from all the 75 districts, but the responsibility for the Covid control remains the same as the risk of pandemic infection is still there,” said additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad.
Officials also noted that for the third day in a row, the Covid-19 deaths have remained below 100-mark, while the test positivity rate has remained around 0.5%.
The officials said that as a result of swift measures, micro-planning, alertness and an aggressive ‘Trace-Test-Treat’ approach to contain the virus, Uttar Pradesh has recorded a decline by more than 95% in the number of active Covid cases since its peak on April 30 when the active cases were 3.10 lakh.
The number of total cases in the state crossed 17 lakh.
Reviewing the Covid-19 situation, chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to strengthen the containment zone policy.
“The containment zones must be fixed and the strategy must be firmed up after the assessment of local conditions by district magistrates to avoid any inconvenience to the citizens,” instructed the CM.
