Dalhousie hospitality Sector cries for Support

DALHOUSIE: Not merely the Dalhousie’s hospitality and tourism sector is suffering because of coronavirus-induced constraints including lockdown but in many instances, both the resort owners and lessee are going to get a very long drawn legal battle. While speaking to TOI about Sunday, Ashish Chadha, a resort owner and former manager of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation advised that as much as 9000 individuals weredirectly and indirectly, reliant on tourism that had been laid off from the resort or restaurant managements and have been made to perform other menial tasks to fulfill both ends. “Dalhousie brings 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh tourists annually but because last year tourists aren’t coming because of coronavirus limitations, barring a month because last March we’re nearly jobless,” he explained. There are approximately 120 resorts in and about Dalhousie with more than two dozen restaurants besides souvenir and gift stores and photographers etc.. Approximately half of those resorts are awarded on lease contracts that’s created by February for a time of following fiscal year. Ashish said that the Himachal Pradesh government must stretch a helping hand to the hotel along with other stakeholders from the tourism business and declare a moratorium to bond them out.
