Dalit employees were forced to clean Manhole at B’luru HOSP

Bengaluru: Three staff at Mission Chinmaya Hospital (CMH) in Indiranagar have been booked to force one of the housekeeping staff to manually not suspiciously the sewers in their place.
Daivadeenam, 53, belongs to the caste mala, the Dalit community, and has worked as a hospital employee for the past 21 years.
He refused to lower himself into Got when asked to do it by his supervisor at the Housekeeping Department, said the source.
After his refusal, he was allegedly threatened with his work by high-ranking and forced officials to complete the task.
Hospital Household Supervisors, Raja D and Gilbert, and Administrators have been booked below Section 3 (1) (J) Prevention of SC / ST AWC-1989 and Section 7, 8, and 9 of the prohibition of referring manuals and rehabilitation of Act-2013.
On December 15, a complaint was submitted in the name of Daivadeenam by Social Workers from Karnataka Samata Sainik Dal and Madhusudhana KN, assistant director in the Department of Social Welfare Welfare.
The defendant was named in Fir and ACP Kumar from Halasuru Station investigating this case.
Daivadeenam stated in his complaint that when he refused to do a physical dangerous job, management allegedly said, “It is his duty to make a manual recipulation”.
He was reported to have carried out such operations in the past and had been seen by a government official and released a warning.
Kamala, a social worker with Samata Sainik Dal, said: “Daivadeenam approached us on December 9 a week after doing the job.
He initially rejected the job by quoting his age and his health problem.
At this age, he could not take his health risk by going into Got holes and many lives have been lost doing this kind of work, but he is threatened that he will be fired from his position.
“Other household staff confirmed Daivadeenam always assigned the task to clean the toilet and clean up the garbage in the hospital.
Dhananjay, a former medical technician and joint secretary at the CMH employee association, said the hospital did not have transparency in its operations.
“He suffered a respiratory problem after he was forced to do a manual scavenger and seek treatment at CMH.
But we heard his request for medical attention was rejected,” he added.
Toi tried to meet Dr.
Unchil Sudhir, Medical Director, and Gopal B Hosur, Chief Executive Officer, in the hospital but they were not available for comments.
The hospital administration directed Ti Reporter to Medical Officer Resident Dakshinamurthy, who directed responsibility for the Head of Shankar Ganesh Human Resources.
Head of HR said he was a meeting and did not meet a reporter.
Some calls to the head of HR, CEO, and medical director of the numbers provided by the hospital are also missed.
