Owned by the Pariyar community, the Dalits have been rejected by permits by the village elders to enter the Temple of Pekkaman Karuppasamy since time immemorial.

But now, because the temple has good income, non-dalit, especially the pyramalai Kallars which are majority in the village, do not allow them to offer worship.
It is a Dalit family who lives around the temple that performs rituals at the temple, and priests also from their families.
Dalit, except for twenty of these families, is not allowed to enter the temple.

One of the Dalits approached the Madurai High Court which ordered the district government to take action.
When an investigation was carried out, non-dalit denied the allegations.
The problem was taken with HR and CE, who said that the temple was located on the land of HR and CE, but belonged to the category of ‘Chickers” Chittrayee, 69, who went to the temple around 4:30 a.m., “ I did not remember anyone from my family who had entered this temple.
