Patna: Muzaffarpur police on Monday destroyed the racket involved in the printing and fake circulation of India at this time notes (IFCN) in North Bihar and arrest nine people, including the kingpin, Ajay Mahto.
They also recover IFCN with a nominal value of Rs 7.5 lakh and SUVs used in transportation records.
Muzaffarpur SSP Jayant Kant told this reporter by telephone that the special team, led by additional SP sp (West) Syed Imran Masood, was established to track a family traveling with SUVs.
“The police intercepted the vehicle between Motipur and Motihanari.
At first Mahto tried to mislead them by saying he was traveling with his wife and two children and had no connection with the IFCN racket,” SSP said, added that the relative king of Singh Mahto was used to send him to print a note from Nepal.
Mahto, a resident of Patahi in the East Champaran District, has been involved in illegal activities over the past six months.
He used to print a note in his home village, which was close to the Indian-Nepal border.
The Sho Police Office of Motipur Anil Kumar said the raids were carried out in Maysganj in the Sitamarhi district and several suspected hiding Mahto gang members in the Champaran district and East Muzaffarpur.
“The police also arrested Mahto Sunita Devi’s wife and their two children,” he added.
The police did not rule out the use of the IFCN consignment confiscated in the upcoming Pancrayat poll.
An investigative officer claimed, “There is no relationship from the people captured by terror clothing operating in India or abroad has been confirmed so far.”
