Gurgaon: Residents of the HSVP sector have raised concerns over the waste of drinking water due to pipe leaks.
They claimed to have made several complaints to the Corporation Municipal Gurgaon (MCG), but there was no action taken by the department concerned to prevent waste by connecting leaks.
In sector 23a, residents claimed that water pipes near the pump of old water supply were damaged a month ago while putting a new pipe in the area.
They said that they had provided MCG officials several times, but all their requests fell on deaf ears.
Malkhan Singh, President of Rwa from the 23A sector, said: “The water pipe was damaged a month ago when the pipeline was placed in this sector.
We immediately told the officials concerned about this problem but nothing was done since then.” Sector 46 has also faced problems for more than 20 days now, but nothing is done to fix problems that cause thousands of liters of drinking water that are wasted every day.
They claim that the accumulation of water on the roadside has become a breeding place for mosquitoes and causing damage to the road.
The pipes in the sectors were placed for two decades ago and now becomes old and rusty which is often damaged.
RK YADAV, Rwa President Sector 46, said: “We are fed up with a functioning and feeling of MCG officials.
Even after notifying them, our problems are not resolved on time.
This not only causes discomfort but also a waste of resources.
Pipes in this sector are old and rusty, which produce frequent leaks.
In addition, this sector road has also been explored by various institutions and authorities causing damage to the pipeline.
“Meanwhile, a senior MCG official said that the maintenance of water pipes was Routine work, and if complaints have been made, the action will be taken immediately.
“The problem is not in my knowledge, but I will ask the official worried to see this problem and finish it earlier,” the official said.
