Kochi: Northeast Monsun has been active on Kerala and the Meteorology Department of India (IMD) on Friday issued an orange warning for six Kerala districts on November 13 and for five districts on November 14 which showed heavy rain.
The six districts are Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki while The Five is Pathamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki.
Meanwhile, the Idukki District collector said the leaf of the Cheruthoni dam window from the Idukki reservoir might be opened on Saturday or Sunday if the rain continued in the district.
Collectors warned people who lived in downstream idukki dam and along the banks of the Periyar River remained careful.
The IMD website said Kerala had received 86 percent of excess rainfall during the period 1 October to October 12.
Normal rainfall which is estimated from October 1 to 12 is 392.9 mm, however, the country has so far received 732.4 mm rain during that period.
