Palanpur: Representative of Valmiki Samaj, Lalji Bhagat who has started ‘Dandav Prana Yatra’ on January 1 from Malpur to Gandhinagar was stopped by Dhansura police.
Dandavat Yatra is a difficult trip by rolling on the ground.
Lalji was in Yatra as part of his pilgrimage to Gandhinagar to file a petition to the chairman of Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighting complaints of the sweeper community.
The petition consists of a list of complaints including the problem of community survival.
Valmiki Gujarat Organization has struggled for sweeper rights for some time now and Lalji, the president of the organization, which is intended to complete his 150km trip on January 7.
After Dhansura police held Lalji on Saturday under Section 144 that had been put in place, however, the district released it after several hours.
Lalji vowed to continue his Yatra.
The source said that the Dhansura police received orders from Gandhinagar to stop Lalji from continuing his planned pilgrimage.
