The race, organized by the Valencia 10K athletic center, with the collaboration of the Valencia City Council, is part of the Athletics World Road Label race where athletes from 55 countries participate.
Popularly known as ‘Dang Express’, a remote athlete, 24-year-old Gavit completed it in 28.42 minutes in Valencia.
Previously, the record was held by Indrajeet Patel which was completed in 28.50 minutes in November 2010 and Sunil Pathak who scored the same time in November 2007.
“I broke the Indian national record of 10 km which run the race in 2010 in 28.54 minutes.

Gavit, who trained in Ooty in September and October before heading to Iten in Kenya in November, told Ti that he was pleased with his appearance in his first international competition in two years.

I am happy with my performance and practice for Commonwealth and Asiad games,” he said.
Gavit, currently pursuing BA from Vansada College, has emerged as the main athletic star after Sprinter Sarita Gaekwad.
Gayakwad is part of the team for racing 4 * 400 meters in 2018 Asian Games who won gold.
M R Poovamma, Hima Das and V K Vishraya are other team members.
Gayakwad recently became a police deputy supervisor at the Gujarat police after he was offered a job by the government.
