Colombo: The aggressive opening dough Sri Lanka, Danushka Gunathilaka, has decided to retire from the Cricket test at the age of 30 to focus on the format of the white ball, the body said the cricket apex on Saturday.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said the dough “will now focus on a shorter format”.
The development was approaching the heel of the other 30-year-old dough, Bhukuka Rajapaksa, announced his decision to retire at all from international cricket and the day after the council revoked the suspension of one-year bio-security violation in Gunathilaka, the crush of Dick and Niroshan Dickwella with the direct effect.
Gunathilaka, who stated that he had made a decision after evaluating all aspects, had not played a test since 2018, with eight appearances made him 299 running, two centuries and the best score 61.
He had a better record in Cricket Overs limited.
In 44 ODI, he has scored 1520 running at an average of 36.19, while in T20IS, he has 568 running in 30 matches at the ranking rate of 121.62.
Trio Gunathilaka, Disk and Dickwella was given a one-year ban from international cricket for bio-security violations during last year’s Sri Lankan tour.
This ban also includes a six-month suspension of domestic cricket, and a fine of around USD 50,000.
Gunathilaka often experiences problems with SLC for disciplinary problems.
Since its international debut towards the end of 2015, Gunathilaka has served three separate suspensions, the latest is to violate the bio-bubble protocol.
