Darjeeling defeated Kolkata in active and fresh Covid cases

Kolkata: The number of fresh positive cases in the state is in a sharp decline.
But the hill queen currently occupies second place throughout Bengal as far as active cases.
Darjeeling has also taken over Kolkata in terms of new cases everyday.
With Covid restrictions were appointed in phases in the state, health experts arrested people who were tired of Covid flocking to the hill as soon as travel restrictions really came out.
This, they said, could be proven to be dangerous for Darjeeling.
On Thursday, Darjeeling has 1,542 active cases, only next to the North 24 Pargana Covid-19 epicenter who has 1,801 active cases, the highest among all districts.
In Kolkata, it has dropped to 1,217.
“Kolkata reduction has been sharp, which is around 95% compared to several districts, including Darjeeling, where reducing positive cases is slower, hovering between 50% to 75%.
This shows that these places are still not out of danger,” said Professor of IPGMER Surgery Diplipra Sarkar.
The one-day surge in the highest in Darjeeling was 740 cases on May 21 against the highest Kolkata of 3,955 cases reported on May 14.
On Thursday, the city reported 87 new cases while Darjeeling had 88 cases.
“We are in the phase of the second wave decline of Covid pandemic.
But we also have to remember that the daily case expenses do not decrease in every Bengal district at the same level because several factors such as population density, transportation restrictions, testing strategies, people’s behavior etc.,” said Swasthya Public Health Specialist through.
Some hills stations in Himachal Pradesh and North Indian Uttarnal have gathered with tourists after unlocking.
Darjeeling can also immediately see a similar situation with people in droves to the hills as the norms in the state becomes easier to come out.
Sarkar said that a temporary flock immunity, a higher number of tests and better vaccine coverage can be some reason to decrease sharp cases in Kolkata.
“Now if people are starting to rush to Darjeeling, it will prove to be dangerous to the hill.
With a potential third wave, it is not the time to vacation.
Limitation of Inter Zonal movements must still be charged except essential journey until we have around 50% coverage of vaccines,” said Sarkar.
Health experts say that vaccination certificates and RT-PCR negative reports can also help the hill in controlling another surge.
“Detention and unlocking must be carried out based on several factors, especially the burden of daily cases, the level of testing of tests and transmissions.
There must be limits in tourist attractions for now,” added.
“From consciousness, testing, vaccinations, we take all efforts to bring the numbers down further,” said Darjeeling Cmoh Proloy Acharya.
